5 Habits of people who are never broke
Finding money isn’t a far fetch idea. No, it’s not going to drop out of the sky but it’s easy and attainable. Here are my top five ways to find more money.
- Checking your states/county office for unclaimed money: visiting your state’s website and searching by name could earn you a check.
I bet you’re rolling your eyes but honestly check it out for yourself. Google “Your state” unclaimed property and your states’ treasurer website should come up. All you’ll need is your last name and city. I found out my grandmother was due a refund from an overpaid medical bill. After the verification process, she sent a check in the mail.
2. Cutting cable and using IP streaming services. Are you tired of paying the cable company hundreds of dollars? It’s legal don’t worry, the FBI isn’t going to kick down your door. Are you looking for cheaper and more? There are 100% free options and even paid options that are not even ¼ of the price of cable. For more info Click here, including my favorite IPTV services.
3. Combing through your bank statement and cutting extra spending
Print out your last three pay stubs and add up all your fast food, and subscription expenses. Before starting my journey I was spending more than $400 a month on unnecessary expenses and was able to pocket that money. If you are anything like me keeping track is pretty hard. Thank god for apps like Bobby and Truebill! These are both great apps for both tracking and canceling subscription services.
4. Stopping payroll deductions for a while to catch up on your expenses
By changing your standard deductions depending on how much you make you can save yourself $100 per check. Next cancel your dental, life insurance and 401k/pension temporary until you catch up. Normally this saves you $200 more in a paycheck. The only downside is you’re using the money now exceed of receiving a refund during tax season.
5. Yard sale. While this is the most obvious situation most people don’t know how to sell their things for the maximum profit. Using facebook marketplace for your big-ticket items is a great start and you use the same listing to promote your yard sale. Going towards the end of your yard sale. Flip your prices to 50% off of the original ticket price. Selling you old things could earn you more than $1000 for a day selling things you’re not even going to miss. Apps like Letgo and OfferUp are safe and fast ways to sell stuff quickly.
