A Toddler Halloween Sensory Game Every Good Parent Should Know

Halloween is just around the corner and I was inspired by a blog post about the sensory bin with orange rice. I wanted to create it. This looked like fun I wanted to see if Yara would love it. If you wanted to see the original post. (Click Here)

It’s Super Easy I Promise:

This is what you need and everything is from the dollar store and this project will cost you $4.06 to complete.

Materials needed:

A Small Bag of Rice

1/2 cup of White Vinegar

Orange food coloring ( I used red and yellow to get my super bright orange)

Plastic Spiders for your little one to find.

Step 1:

In a large mixing bowl pour in the small bag of rice and drop-in the bottle of orange food coloring. Make sure to mix while you drop. (P.S: This is a great way to make your Kid feel involved if you give them the job as the mixer.)

Step 2:

Allow 3 hours to dry on a cookie sheet and then place it into a large tub.

Step 3:

Pour in your Creepy crawlies (i.e spiders and other creepy little Halloween themed things) I peek them out of the rice and hid most of them.

Step 4:

Give your Toddler a cup and pair of plastic tongs and enjoy watching your toddler entertaining themselves. (This will be your cue to disappear and have a glass of wine….if you need a drink recipe…click here )

This is cute and all, but how long did she play this game

Yara played by herself for about 15 minutes but with directions, It was a full 45 minutes. I asked her to count the spiders. Hide them and bury them. Find the spiders and put them in the small cup. After that, I told her to have a ball and watch her explore until she asked to go outside on the slide.

Clean up wasn’t that bad. Honesty cleaning up wasn’t bad at all. We have hardwood floors and I swept and trashed it. As for the rest of the game, I poured the rice into a zip lock bag for the next playtime. In the comments below let me know what project you want to see next.
